However, funding for these films is often difficult and if a moviemaker finds funding, it is usually very small. In the past Banks and financial institutions were forbidden to lend money to movie studios. Now, the ban has been lifted and funding is not regulated in India resulting in movie studios looking for funds from illegitimate sources like the Indian mafia. Because of small budget and limited filming schedule, few Hindi filmmakers resort to plagiarism. They have been known to copy plot lines, music and ideas from other Hindi films and even from Hollywood and other Western movies. Another problem the Hindi movies are having is the widespread copyright infringement. Movie piracy happens very often in India. The Indian mafia often manufactures bootleg copies of DVD's, Vic's, and VHS copies of Hindi films long before it even makes its traditional debuts in the cinemas.
